Mango Butter Benefits March 7, 2018 09:27 87 Comments
Mango butter is pretty amazing! It's known for its skin softening, soothing, moisturizing and protective properties.
Using it can help restore flexibility and reduce degeneration of skin cells. Another great quality is it's rich in fatty acids to easily absorb into your skin without leaving a greasy feel.⠀⠀
Your hair will love Mango Butter too! It helps you maintain moisture while keeping your hair nourished by providing nutrients to look and feel healthy. Mango butter has similar qualities to shea butter, but has higher levels of fatty acids to help with moisture retention. Vitamins A, C, and E are present in mango which are essential for healthy hair and hair growth. ⠀
Chocolate Body Icing February 12, 2016 18:01 80 Comments
Although every day is special with the one you love, Valentine's Day (or any day) can be a great time to make something special. You can even create handmade items together as a great bonding experience.
Chocolate Body Icing is quick and simple. Some of the items you probably have in your kitchen or ingredient stash. This formula is for 10 oz. of body icing, but will increase in volume as you whip. The ratio is 65/35 with 65% butters and 35% oils.
6 oz. shea butter
0.5 oz. cocoa butter
3.5 oz. oil(s) of your choice (you can use avocado oil, olive oil, or any oil you have available)
2 tbls. of cocoa powder
Step 1: Weigh butters and oils. Melt them in the microwave or double boiler. You can refer to other body butter tutorial posts as a reference.
Step 2: Place the container in the refrigerator to cool down quickly. Make sure it's the consistency below before whipping. You need a little texture to whip properly without oil flying all over the place.
Step 3: Whip the mixture until it resembles fluffy cake batter and add cocoa powder. Continue mixing until it's nice and fluffy.
Step 4: Package and it's ready to go. This was done using piping tips but it's not necessary. It just makes it look a little more decorative. Chocolate candy optional lol.
Now wasn't that easy! Enjoy and let me see your batch when it's done.
Simple 2 Ingredient Body Butter Recipe July 21, 2015 00:05 74 Comments
Making a body butter doesn't require lots of different ingredients. It's really as simple or complex as you desire. Typically you find body butters with other additives such as cornstarch and arrowroot powder to help with the oily after effect, but quite honestly those things aren't necessary. Having a great combination of butters and oils will prevent a greasy butter and give you an amazing body butter. For this tutorial we're using 2 simple ingredients for a wonderful skin loving product.
For this recipe we'll make 10 oz. to keep the percentages easy.
80% mango butter - 8 oz.
20% avocado oil - 2 oz.
fragrance is optional
4 Simple steps to follow:
Step 1: Mix the butter and oils together and melt (using a double boiler or microwave).
Step 2: Place the bowl in the refrigerator to solidify a little. Notice the sides are a little solid but there's still liquid in the center.
Step 3: After removing it from the refrigerator mix using a mixer. I use a kitchen aid, but a hand mixer will work. Mix until it's light and fluffy.
Step 4: After mixing you can place it in a container and it's ready to use.
